This desk is sturdy and looks nice, except for some scratches and nicks that it came with. It is the perfect standing height for most adults.I only gave it 4 stars because it came with a couple scratches (2in. & 4 in. long) and nicks on the surface of the desk (in pictures). Because the desk came with scratches and nicks already on the surface, I am unsure of how it will hold up when someone writes/draws on it, so I bought a clear desk protector to put on it. I also didn’t want the existing indents from the scratches to affect the writing/drawing. It doesn’t seem to have a protective coat on it that would protect it when someone uses it for writing, so I would recommend getting a desk protector if you purchase this desk. This is my third piece from Winsome. I'm very happy with it. Had no issues with any of the pieces & packed very well. I was missing a bolt & screw though. But I sent them an email with part number and they very quickly sent me out 2 replacement pieces, as in full set of bolt & nut. My only complaint is that the instructions are a bit vague. Trying to figure out where all the pieces went was confusing for me. And I'm not a newbie when it comes to assembling yourself. Have done many pieces in my time. So I did miss 3 dowels. But it doesn't seem to make any difference. The desk is lovely, very tall. My daughter who is 6' said she thinks it's too tall. But I think once I find a good chair to go with it she'll be fine. I recommend these products. Like I said this this is my third piece and have had zero issues. They are good solid attractive pieces. It also isnt a space hog. My kiddo dont have a lot of room in her room anymore. But it fit nicely in her small available space.I like standing desks and have a small office area. This pretty much fits the bill perfectly. I did add some felt floor protectors on the feet AND the very back for added support against a wall so this tall boy resists wobbling better.I occasionally use a stool with this. You'll need a really tall one (around 30") with this desk. I use a Homall Bar Stool and it does the job well.ProsTaller than mostCompact but doesn't feel too smallHas a big drawerSolid buildNice shade of stainHas a bonus small shelf down below the deskConsTall desks can wobble a bitThe large drawer is not on a trackThe little wooden dowels that hide screws easily pop out and disappear foreverThe wood finish does look nice but is more reddish color than walnut.Sadly, the width is too small for an adult even a skinny adult.Knees easily hit the wood on either side even when we bought a swivel stoolNeeds to be at least five inches wider.Wanted a standing desk for this work from home period. This piece did not disappoint. It’s a great height for me (I’m 5’4”) and not too hard to assemble. Looks handsome and serves its purpose. Much like a podium. Wide work space and the pull out drawer is a nice touch though don’t have use for it yet.Space efficientHAVE NOT HAD FOR A YEAR AND IT WOBBLES, THE SCREWS FALL OUT AS WELL AS THE COVERS FOR THE SCREW HOLES. IT COMES APART ALL BY ITSELF AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN MOVED. I LIKE THE LOOKS OF IT BUT UNLESS YOU GORILLA GLUE IT TOGETHER, WHICH I DID NOT DO, IT FALLS APART AND THIS INCLUDES THE DRAWER----DO NOT OPEN IT OR THE SIDES JUST GET LOSE AND YOU CANNOT CLOSE IT.I FEEL BAD ABOUT ALL THIS AS I NEED IT FOR MY HOME OFFICE AREA.The wood is very good quality! Nice desk!Worth it
