I have had an Ottlight before I bought this one and liked the light. This model yields very bright and clear light, good for close work. I use it on my workbench, where it takes up minimal space, especially when not in use as the lamp head folds down against the base and also turns off the light. The lamp head is more sturdy than many "goose-neck" style lights and stays where you put it.Really like the lamp except it get very hot.Great product and great priceI have owned Ott lights before and they are always the best. I use it mostly for reading the newspaper. These give so much direct lighting, if you do jewelry, models or other detail work this works great. Folds up compactly and stores in small space. It sits atop of a small cabinet overlooking and lighting my wife's knitting. Just right amount of light and daylight temperature, so the colors look exactly as they should. It would be nice to offer a non-slip material to the base, so it won't slide inadvertently.I bought it for wife who does cross-stitching crafts for our home. She's done it for years and recently she had complained to me about how dim the light seemed. So, I shopped around and found this far more compact, lighter and brighter light. She's pleased with it but wishes it could be brighterI have used the true light bulbs in regular lamps but this is so better. The slight difference is amazing. This lamp did not have a UK compliant plug. It took three weeks to arrive and has to be returned at the buyer's expense. Amazon's QA team need to look at this more closely.I'm sure the product is fine is USA/Canada. It is sturdy and attractive. It just should not have been sold on Amazon UK.This is the 3rd one I’ve purchased because they maintain pure light quality, excellen5 for reading, sewing fine work and anyone who does have vision challenges it is a “must have”! The first one purchased is still excellent and only replaced the bulb last year...my lamp is at least 12 years old. This little lamp puts out great light for crafting.Unit Not Suitable for Australia
